Pantone Color Matching and Selecting a Pantone in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

If you're in the printing business, you're probably already familiar with Pantone color matching. Pantone is a company that produces standardized color matching systems that are used by designers and printers to ensure consistency in color across various media.

When it comes to selecting and using Pantone colors in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, there are a few key things to keep in mind.

Understanding Pantone Colors

Pantone colors are identified by a unique number that corresponds to a specific color. For example, Pantone 185C is a bright red color that is often used in printing.

There are two main types of Pantone colors: spot colors and process colors. Spot colors are specific colors that are printed using a single ink color, while process colors are created using a combination of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks.

When working with Pantone colors, it's important to note that not all colors can be reproduced accurately using the CMYK printing process. This is because some colors, such as bright oranges and greens, require more ink saturation than can be achieved using CMYK inks.
